A message from our CEO

A sketchnote of words, phrases and graphics that describe the Trust

EKC Schools Trust brings to life a concept unlike any other in Kent…

Our schools are able to retain their independence, make their own decisions, and remain embedded within the community which they serve.

We believe wholeheartedly in the unique and individualised nature of these excellent schools. As a consequence, EKC Schools Trust works to help them retain and grow local relationships and personalised approaches and curriculums while celebrating their distinctiveness. EKC Schools Trust really marks an exciting moment in education within Kent.

Tammy Mitchell CEO EKC Schools Trust

Tammy Mitchell

Chief executive officer

A lifelong educator, Tammy’s passion and proven track record of educational improvement spans Primary, Secondary and Further Education.

In forming the Trust and as CEO, Tammy spearheads the Trust’s strategic direction, fostering innovation and collaboration and strengthening the communities we serve.

Away from charting the Trust’s course, Tammy can be found kayaking, paddleboarding, and horse riding across East Kent.

Summer Macer. Chief Operating Officer

Summer Macer

Chief operating officer

With a career built on strategic planning, tactical delivery, and sharp commercial acumen, Summer ensures the operational efficiency of the Trust.

A champion of collaboration and continuous improvement, she leads with clarity, a creative energy, and a relentless drive to make things better.

And when she’s not strategising or dancing (her other great passion), you might find her embracing a challenge—like the time she walked on fire!

Daniel Lewsey

DIRECTOR OF SAFEGUARDING & COMPLIANCE

Daniel expertly blends strategic oversight and people-first thinking to safeguarding and compliance, drawing on senior leadership experience in the FE sector.

As an Ofsted inspector and champion of high standards, he’s driven by a commitment to creating safe, supportive environments across the Trust.

And when he’s not overseeing safety and compliance, his other great love is property – especially when it involves a renovation.

Jason Howard

Executive headteacher

Jason began his teaching journey in 2009 and went on to lead Queenborough School & Nursery to its second Outstanding Ofsted judgement.

As an Executive Headteacher, he now supports leadership across schools and drives strategic improvement, guided by a passion for educational research.

When he’s not shaping school strategy or contributing as a governor, Jason’s likely off exploring somewhere new – always planning the next adventure.

Sharon Hollingsworth

Director of Governance

With over a decade of experience in governance and firmly rooted in the sector, Sharon brings added depth to the Trust’s leadership team.

With diplomas in Strategic Management, Leadership, and Governance – and a proud MCIPD member – she ensures our governance practices are both rigorous and forward-thinking.

And when she’s not immersed in board papers or policy, she’s likely out running, scuba diving, or enjoying the drama of live theatre.

Emma Law

Executive headteacher

Emma has championed high-quality education for disadvantaged pupils since her first teaching role in 2000.

With leadership experience across diverse settings and Ofsted Inspection, she now drives school improvement and inclusion across the Trust.

And when she’s not leading change and serving as a Kent inclusion champion, Emma’s likely found singing with her community choir or enjoying a dog walk.
