Work with Us

Giving children and young people the best start.

As a Trust, our collective commitment to raising aspiration, helping our children and young people grow, flourish and achieve their ambitions drives our work.

Each of our schools has its own unique and distinctive character and vision for its community, something we proudly celebrate and protect. Each offers an amazing environment for its children and its colleagues, and we encourage you to learn more about their incredible work.

At our core, our purpose is to:

  • strengthen and enhance our communities
  • enable the power of education to inspire
  • maximise and achieve the potential of every learner
  • enrich the curriculum through partnership and collaboration

And strengthening and enhancing our communities starts with ensuring our schools and staff draw strength from being part of the Trust.

We empower and develop our staff through access to high-impact CPD opportunities, including coaching and mentoring, professional development programmes, networks across the Trust, and our EKC Group and KMA Partners.

We’re proud of our trust!

A rewarding role

Trustees and Governors perform a tremendously valuable and rewarding role; encouraging and shaping the broader learning opportunities and experiences available to children, adding value as we work towards our strategic vision and improvement priorities.

Our Trust Board and Local Governing Bodies (LGBs) are served by a committed team of volunteers offering their skills, time and commitment.

The Trust and our schools need and benefit from a range of professional knowledge on the Trust Board and LGBs including education, finance, human resources, legal, marketing and public relations, property and estates management, as well as organisational change.

You do not need to be a parent or have experience in the education sector, we are interested in character and skill sets. Our development framework ensures our Board and LGB governors are well supported.

Many employers recognise school governance as part of their Corporate Social Responsibility and, Learning and Development Policies and may offer paid leave for governor duties.

  • “I’ve always been passionate about education and about improving the outcomes for young people in our society. As the Chief Executive of a large further education college Group, I have witnessed the truly transformational impact of a great education and I wanted to help make that a reality for even more young people.
As a Trustee, I’m able to deliver a real and tangible difference to young people’s lives, ensuring that they get the education they deserve and that their life chances are enhanced through its power. I’m really proud to be able to help in this way, and hope that the communities I serve benefit from my input.”

    Chair of Trustees

  • Bernadette Lax -Trustee

“I chose to be a Trustee within EKC Schools Trust as I believe in the model of trust formed, whereby schools work in partnership whilst keeping their own unique character.
I am delighted to be part of a Trust really making a positive difference to the lives of local children, their families, and communities. Being a trustee allows me to make use of my professional experience and keeps my knowledge of educational changes current.
I enjoy being part of a team that brings such a variety and wealth of experience together for such an inspiring purpose – the future life chances of children.”

    Bernadette Lax

    Trustee

  • “With two daughters who have successfully been through the education system from Primary to University, I volunteer as a Governor and Trustee so that I can play a part in helping all other children have a similar outcome, thereby ensuring that they are able to grow and develop to their full potential.
I particularly like using the skills and experience developed over a number of years to support school leaders and also working with a wide range of like-minded people who all share the same goal, to make schools better places for pupils and the wider
    community”

    Peter Goldsack

Even the most highly effective schools benefit from school improvement visits and evidence supports that schools who are limited in their partnerships, inward facing or lacking in challenge will often be downgraded by Ofsted and lose momentum in their drive for quality for their pupils. There is a direct correlation between schools not working in wide, sector specific arrangements and Ofsted grades since 2019.

EKC School’s Trust model is designed to ensure the highest level of collaboration, sharing of best practice and continued professional development balanced with challenge and monitoring from primary specialists with a proven track record in school improvement.
