We are proud of the inclusive culture across our Trust and the rich diversity of our communities. We fully uphold our duties under the Equality Act 2010, and our Equality Objectives support our commitment to eliminating discrimination, advancing equality of opportunity, and fostering positive relationships.
Our Objectives
- Diminish the achievement and attendance differences of disadvantaged pupils in the Trust
- Strengthen the Academy curriculums across the Trust to ensure effective teaching of equality and diversity
- Foster inclusive communities across the Trust, to enable diversity of thought and experience to advance our inclusive culture.
Our Commitment
EKC Schools Trust is committed to equality in both education and employment. We aim to ensure that every student, parent, colleague, governor, partner and potential member of our community is treated fairly, with dignity and respect. We are proactive in valuing people’s differences and work to identify and remove barriers to inclusion and achievement.
Equality sits at the heart of our culture. While we set high standards, we continually challenge ourselves to improve. Our current Equality Objectives guide our focus through to 2029.
How Our Objectives Are Informed:
Our priorities are shaped by:
- Our organisation profile
- Self-evaluation and quality improvement outcomes
- Statutory requirements
- Local, regional, and national priorities
The Trust will review its progress annually at Headteacher Board.
We work hard to ensure our schools are places where everyone feels they belong. We’re proud of what we’ve achieved thus far and we’re excited about what’s coming next.
Building Inclusive Communities – Our leaders and governors reflect the communities we serve, and we’ve built a culture of inclusion and belonging that runs through everything we do. Now, we’re going even further, partnering with ParentKind to deepen the connection between families and school life. At a time when views about education are shifting—often shaped by what’s seen online—we’re focused on keeping the connection between home and school strong, so every family feels they belong and can work with us to help children thrive.
Supporting Every Child to Succeed – We’re proud of the support we offer to help every child thrive, whatever their starting point. We create rich, engaging experiences that support learning and wellbeing. We’ve built strong relationships with families and improved attendance across our schools. We know that some children face more barriers than others. Over the next four years, we’ll continue to focus on those who need extra support, while making sure every child feels seen, supported, and able to succeed.
A Curriculum That Builds Understanding and Belonging – We want every child to feel seen, heard, and valued in what they learn. That’s why we’ve worked hard to make sure our curriculum reflects the world around us, and helps pupils understand and respect others. Looking ahead, we’ll continue to celebrate what makes each of us unique, and what brings us together. We’ll keep sharing stories, voices, and experiences from across our communities. And we’ll continue helping pupils think carefully and kindly about the world, building on their ability to ask thoughtful questions, consider different perspectives, and treat others with respect.
